Sensory Songs
Music Considerations for Regulation
Sensory Songs is a video course that explores music as a supportive tool for sensory regulation.
About the course
We live in a sensory-rich world—full of sounds, sights, textures, and smells. As adults, we often shape our environments to meet our sensory needs. Don’t like scratchy shirts? You probably wear soft clothes. Find strong smells calming? Maybe your home is filled with richly scented candles.
Kids, however, have fewer coping strategies and much less control over their surroundings. Even in what seems like an “ideal” sensory environment, the way each child’s brain processes sensory input can lead to overwhelm. And that’s okay. Dysregulation is a normal part of being a kid—just like it is for adults.
Sensory Songs is a video course that explores how music can support sensory regulation. Co-taught by an occupational therapist and two music therapists, this course dives into topics like sensory processing, regulation and modulation, sensory-seeking and -avoiding behaviors, and practical music-based strategies. You’ll get over 3 hours of video content, a live Zoom office hour, and 14 original, ready-to-use songs designed for sensory exploration.
In this course, you’ll receive:
Practical ideas and strategies from an occupational therapist and two music therapists, including both musical and non-musical tools for sensory support
14 ready-to-use songs for sensory exploration, with chords, lyrics, recordings, and select notated leadsheets
Over 3 hours of video instruction
A Zoom Q&A office hour for deeper discussion and support
5 pre-approved CMTE credits for MT-BCs (or a professional development certificate for educators and related professionals)
